Meet Glo

Don Cudney

Gloria Neal has been a fixture on Denver’s media scene for more than a decade. Now she brings her unique insight to Denver Magazine.

If the phrase “Honey Hush” has ever popped up in your daily dialogue, then you need no introduction to Gloria Neal. This wildly popular television and radio personality and writer has been offering Denver audiences her take on everything from international politics to the entertainment industry to the secrets women keep from their mates. And starting next month, Denver Magazine is pleased to present “Glo Knows” a monthly column on the world at large and our place in it.

Neal is the consummate observer, and that trait combines with an innate curiosity to make for some lively and interesting discourse. Glo studies people every day. “Just because I talk for a living doesn’t mean I don’t listen. My travels all around the world have afforded me a variety of perspectives, and it is because of those perspectives that I can relate to everyday people of every color,” she says. “I don’t think people want perfect. I believe people want real. I struggle with life and life events just like everyone else, but I am a glass-half-full girl! Plus, I’m willing to say what other people are thinking.”

But there’s more to Neal than the public personality: “I love to be still in the moment. When I’m home, I don’t talk much. I love silence. I love professional sports. I’m afraid to fly, but I’m determined to beat that fear; otherwise, I’ll be living my life in bondage.”

She adds that when people read her column she hopes “it leaves them better than when they started. Sometimes that means laughter; I have found even a funeral can be funny if the right person is being buried! Other times, it could mean they may be sad or even reflective. In short, I believe I have something to say that is of use to my reader. Otherwise, why do this?”
