Our Favorite Things: Champ Bailey
Pete Eklund
This All-Pro Denver Bronco needs little introduction as he is often considered to be one of the best cornerbacks to ever play the game. Sidelined with injuries for most of 2008, a rehabilitated Bailey is eager to start anew under Coach McDaniels and put the specter of last season’s 8 – 8 record behind him.
Favorite place to go on a Saturday afternoon:
I like to spend my free time at home. Now that Boss, my brother, is here with his kids, I like to hang out with them. If the Bulldogs are on TV, I’ll definitely be watching them play.
Favorite memory of the city:
The feeling in the city in the week between the New England playoff game and the AFC championship game against Pittsburgh in 2005 was pretty special. I still can’t believe we let that one get away!
Favorite local cause:
the Denver Rescue Mission — through them, we came up with Champ’s Volunteers in 2006 to help the hurting, hungry, and homeless.
Favorite place to catch a movie:
Colorado Center — it’s convenient to work and my house; plus, last season I hosted a premier of Seven Pounds with Brandon Marshall, and Will Smith was there. That was a cool night.
Favorite thing that is unique to Denver:
the fans — I really like that if I do go out, they let me enjoy myself and the people I’m out with.
Favorite thing that makes you laugh: I like hanging out with some of the other players and laughing with them. We’ve got a good group this season.
