Vintage Is the New Green

Anna Holland of Dorje Designs gives a new meaning to vintage jewelry: Her bead collection dates back 2,000 years. The Boulder designer creates bright, chunky earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings by mixing old and new beads with amulets and other relics from Africa, Asia and Latin America. Recent creations include a silver sun disc from Timor, Indonesian rings — repurposed as necklace adornments — carved of bone, and pieces from a century-old Afghani headdress. Who doesn’t love a shopping trip that includes a history lesson?
