The Art-Work-Building Connection

Courtesy of Denver Art Museum

This month is your last chance to view the site-specific installations that make up the Embrace! exhibition at the Denver Art Museum (denverartmuseum.org). Seventeen artists were asked to stake their claim in the Daniel Libeskind–designed Frederic C. Hamilton Building and install works inspired by its harsh angles and sloping walls — an experimental proposition from Christoph Heinrich, the DAM’s deputy director, that garnered spectacular results. The Hamilton Building has always been a love-it-or-hate-it dot on our city’s landscape. Here’s hoping this show has helped at least a few of its more vocal detractors — wait for it — embrace the architecture.
