Don’t Let Me Down, Bruce!

After kicking an Associated Press photographer and calling immigrant farm workers “illiterate peasants,” you’d think Rep. Douglas Bruce would just calm the hell down and try to keep out of trouble for a while. You’d think so, but no.

Now allegations have surfaced that Bruce sexually harassed a female legislative staffer. The identity of Bruce’s accuser as well as what, exactly, Bruce is accused of doing are still being kept on the DL pending an investigation. Still, it’s fun to speculate how an abrasive, middle-aged Republican from Colorado Springs tried to get the ladies’ attention. Inviting them over for a prayer breakfast? Breathing heavily as he discusses the need for a border fence?

Alas, we may never know. In all fairness, Bruce wasn’t always the bigoted, photographer-hating perv (excuse me, alleged perv) you see today. Back in the early 90’s he actually wrote the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) Amendment that severely restrained the government’s profligate tax-and-spend ways. Let’s hope Bruce can clear the air and chill out before his past achievements are overshadowed by his more ignominious ones.
