iPhone Envy, 2.0

Yesterday, Apple co-founder and marketing master, Steve Jobs, introduced the iPhone 3G at a developers’ conference in San Francisco. Speculation among the digerati about what tricks the newest iPhone will have up its sleeve has been rampant since, well, the first iPhone was released a year ago.

Named for its ability to use AT&T’s uber-fast 3G network, Jobs promised the iPhone 3G will offer unprecedented download and data transfer speeds. In addition to just being faster, sleeker, and sexier, the iPhone 3G also features GPS capability, support for Microsoft Exchange, and access to the App Store –a sort of online consignment shop for apps by professional developers.

Oddly, the iPhone 3G only comes in 8- and 16-gig sizes. That means fitting all your music, photos, videos, and docs on your new iPhone – to say nothing of the cornucopia of apps now available to you – will be like toting three friends and their ski equipment to Vail for the weekend in your Honda Fit. Still, we expect the iPhone 3G to be as much a smashing success as its predecessor.
