Helping Seniors Help the Environment!

Solid Waste Management and Street Maintenance, both divisions of Denver Public Works, will join with Volunteers of America for Rake Up Colorado! On the morning of October 25th, hundreds of community volunteers will engage in a program that focuses on Denver's low income seniors that need help getting the leaves out of their yards. Denver's Street Maintenance division has arranged to haul the leaves that volunteers collect. Collected leaves will then be recycled into compost through the Solid Waste Management/Denver Recycles Leafdrop program.

Bug-a-Boo is an event for the whole family that includes interactive and educational Halloween-themed activities and a safe place for trick-or-treating for children of all ages. Venture to Oz this year, and travel the yellow-brick road through the Crawl-a-see-em, Tropical Conservatory, Water's Edge, Shrunk, outdoor gardens and nature trail. Visitors will get face to face with tarantulas, scorpions, giant millipedes, butterflies and more all the while enjoying the story of Wizard of Oz.

Since it’s inception in 1994, Western Fantasy has raised $16 million to support Volunteers of America helping children and families and our elderly neighbors in need across Colorado. Celebrate and support VOA at one of Colorado's premier events. Cocktails will be served at 5:45pm followed by a 7:00pm dinner, auction, and concert with a country star, Dierks Bentley. Pan for Jewelry from Hyde Park, bid on live auction items, and enjoy an exquisite meal prepared by Epicurean catering.
