Helping Seniors Help the Environment!
Solid Waste Management and Street Maintenance, both divisions of Denver Public Works, will join with Volunteers of America for Rake Up Colorado! On the morning of October 25th, hundreds of community volunteers will engage in a program that focuses on Denver's low income seniors that need help getting the leaves out of their yards. Denver's Street Maintenance division has arranged to haul the leaves that volunteers collect. Collected leaves will then be recycled into compost through the Solid Waste Management/Denver Recycles Leafdrop program.
Rake It Up Colorado! gives many of Denver's seniors the ability to recycle their leaves and to help the environment.
Rake Up Colorado celebrates Make a Difference Day, the national day of doing good. Volunteers of all ages are still needed for Rake Up Colorado!
