The Big Picture

Denver's sunny skies make staying inside stifling, so we've come up with another excuse to enjoy the outdoors. The Museum of Outdoors welcomes landscape artist Joellyn Duesberry, and over 30 of her larger than life-size (literally, some stretch over 8-feet wide) pieces, to the mile-high city. Joellyn, a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts painting grant, has had her masterpieces featured at both the Denver Art Museum and Smithsoinan Institution. "Working on a large scale means more to me than the grandiosity implies," explains Duesberry. This Friday, April 4, there will be an artist reception from 5-9 p.m. The exhibit will run through June 27, 2008.

Don't Miss: The multi-media installation in the Museum of Outdoor Art's new state-of-the-art sound gallery.

The Museum is FREE and open to the public 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Friday.

Vail Film Festival

This weekend, Colorado welcomes the highly anticipated 5th Annual Vail Film Festival, April 3-6. With over 80 spectacular films, concerts, panels, and presentations to choose from this year, we're closing shop early Friday to head up to the mountains.

A few of the special screenings that have us buzzing are Terry Kinney's captivating drama Diminished Capacity (starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda, and Virginia Madsen), and David Mackenzie's coming of age story Mister Foe (with Jamie Bell and Claire Forlani).

May we also suggest making a concerted effort to catch Goodbye Baby, a promising new comedy about Melissa Brooks (a stunning Christine Evangelista), who finds herself struggling as a New York City waitress who eventually has big dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian. Don't be surprised if you see Evangelista shredding the slopes, she admitted that her love of skiing was an added bonus of showing Goodbye Baby in Vail!

The Corner Office

If French toast, omelets, and benedicts have you longing to wake up in the morning, make your next breakfast stop at one of our new favorite joints, The Corner Office. This hip breakfast menu features some classic breakfast cereals we haven't had since childhood (Lucky Charms, Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops), but what really perks our taste buds is a giant plate of Bolton's one-of-a-kind Blueberry Cheesecake Waffles. The experimental chef was kind enough to give Denver Magazine his secret recipe, so you too can make these unbelievable waffles at home.

For the waffle you can use any Belgium waffle batter recipe, feel free to use your favorite! The most important part of the waffle is the cheesecake filling.

The recipe for the Cheesecake filling:
½ cup cream cheese
¼ cup powdered sugar
¼ tablespoon lemon extract
½ cup simple syrup
½ cup fresh blueberries

Whip together all ingredients, except the blueberries. When assembling the waffle fold the blueberries into the filling.

Graham Cracker Maple Syrup
¼ cup toasted graham crackers, crushed
1 cup 100% maple syrup

Mix together until well blended

Place one Belgium style waffle down on a 12" plate, fill the waffle with heated cheesecake waffle filling.

Place one more waffle on top, and dust with powdered sugar, and serve with whipped butter and graham cracker maple syrup.
