Kwanzaa at the Denver Zoo

Heebonism 2009

SantaLand Diaries

A stint as Crumpet the Elf in Macy’s SantaLand display years ago gave humorist David Sedaris quite the material. He’s taken his experience and turned it into a cult classic live performance that chronicles hilarious stories during the height of the holiday shopping crunch. Sedaris is best known for his best-selling titles When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Me Talk Pretty One Day, and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. He also is regularly featured on NPR.

Z Cuisine Wine Tasting Series

Since late summer, Z Cuisine has been following the Tour de France, exploring grape varietals in regions along each stage of the famous bike race with once-a-month wine tastings. Next Wednesday, celebrate the last leg, representing stages 12 (Tonnerre) through 18 (Annecy) and the finish in Paris via Alsace and Savoie wines. Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the historic Elitch Theatre. Built in 1891, the Elitch Theatre was home to the United States’ oldest summer-stock theater company from 1897 until 1963.

Food Bank of the Rockies Pound for Pound Challenge

Keep your New Year’s resolution this year, and lose weight to help feed the hungry in our community. The Biggest Loser Pound for Pound Challenge encourages you to pledge your weight loss goals and for every pound pledged, General Mills and other partners will donate 14 cents to Food Bank of the Rockies through Feeding America. The challenge kicked off December 1 and runs through June. FBR is currently in third place nationwide, with more than 14,00 pounds pledged to date. If FBR is one of the top 10 food banks in the nation, it has an opportunity for an additional $10,000 and a segment on NBC’s hit show, The Biggest Loser.
