Boulder International Film Festival

Now in its sixth year, the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) is turning into a major destination on the film-festival circuit. BIFF is presented by the Colorado Film Society and is dedicated to providing the large, urban, film-hip audiences of the Boulder/Denver metro areas with an early look at the best new films in international cinema. In addition to welcoming the legendary Alec Baldwin for closing night, the festival will open with a red-carpet gala, a screening of The Lightkeepers, and a live question-and-answer session with award-winning actress Blythe Danner.

Pur H2O for Haiti

Clean water is something we take for granted every day, but in Haiti, it’s scarce. Pura Vida Fitness & Spa is offering free, donation-based classes to the public through February 5 in an effort to raise $5,000 to bring clean water to Haiti through the organization Thirst Relief. The fundraiser will conclude with a celebration at The Avenue Grill with a portion of proceeds benefiting the cause.

CHOICES 2010

For more than 60 years, the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado has mobilized the Jewish community to assist millions of people in need in our state and around the world. The federation’s largest annual fundraising and outreach event, CHOICES 2010, brings together more than 1,000 women for a luncheon to help sustain the work it does. This year, the federation will welcome author Jennifer Weiner as its guest speaker. Weiner made her debut in 2001 with The New York Times bestseller Good in Bed followed by In Her Shoes, which was later released as a film starring Cameron Diaz, Shirley Maclaine, and Toni Collette. A minimum gift of $200 is requested.

King Sculpture Studios Colorado Ballet Sculpture Series

King Sculpture Studios, in partnership with Denver Magazine and the Colorado Ballet Young Professionals Committee, has created a collection of limited-edition bronze dance art. A significant portion of sales through February 14 will benefit the Colorado Ballet. Sculpture prices range from $400 to $3,000, plus applicable taxes, packing, and shipping. Fundraiser donation is 25 percent of program-associated retail sales for check and cash purchases, 20 percent for credit card purchases.
