Colorado Author does it Again...
Fool's Paradise can describe many a place, however for John Gierach, paradise is a river and he is the fool. Gierach's latest book chronicles his fly fishing expeditions through captivating dialogue and passionate warmth for the cold-blooded creatures. "Casting" light on a sport that many Coloradoans flock to in summer months, Gierach narrates his childhood memories in a belly boat, along with recent sojourns to Alaska in search for salmon.
Being a "city girl" I don't normally pick up the mountain books, however I found myself identifying with Gierach's stories (including a chapter titled "Cheap Dates"), so much so that I found myself lost in fisherman lingo. Plus, I learned factoids about "gum weed" flowers, which is the perfect pick-up line to drop on any fly fisherman.
