Polo for the Cure

Denver Magazine, along with Saks Fifth Avenue and Maybach of Westminster, is sponsoring Colorado's premier polo tournament this weekend. The event will honor Rocky Mountain News columnist and breast cancer survivor Penny Parker for her efforts in raising money and awareness to find a cure for breast cancer. Called the "Kentucky Derby of Denver," the two-day tournament will showcase the athleticism of the ponies and players who have come from around the world to participate in the event. The "Meet the Players Party" will include a silent auction, swing music, an extravagant hat contest and a traditional divot stomp.

Sunday, June 22 (Charity Day), 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tickets: $20 pre-purchase or $40 at the gate.

Several months ago, the Colorado Avalanche released a limited edition cookbook filled with recipes straight from the kitchen of Colorado's hockey players. Featured on ABC Family last week, Riggs has incorporated easy-to-follow martial arts moves to help kids feel good about exercise and ultimately to gain confidence about their bodies. Riggs explains, "child obesity is at an epidemic level, the statistics are scary ... but we can make a difference."

Charlie Price is Denver's Genius
