Independence Day

Get ready to celebrate the birth of our country with spectacular sights of bombs bursting in air! With so many barbecues, parades, fireworks displays and baseball games to choose from, we thought we'd gather a few of our favorite fun-filled family affairs in and around Denver this Fourth of July weekend.


The Colorado Symphony Orchestra is offering a free concert at City Park this Thursday night. Listen to all-American favorites while picnicking under the sunset.

The Cherry Creek Arts Festival has finally arrived! Gather your friends and family and head over to the beautiful booths with unique artwork from all over the country. The food is fantastic and the kid activities are awesome!

Blues Traveler will make their annual appearance at Red Rocks Amphitheater this Fourth of July. However, unlike other years, which saw the band playing solo, John Popper and Co. will bring along special guests Live and Collective Soul, creating a celebratory night not to be missed.

Grab your baseball mitt and head to Coors Field this weekend for the annual firework game. Friday night the Rockies will battle the Florida Marlins, hoping to regain some semblance of last year's National League Championship form under a firework filled sky.

DJ Z-Trip

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Z-Trip is one of the original mash-up DJs, laying songs like "Sweet Home Alabama," over tracks from hard-rock acts such as TOOL. National success followed after a breakout performance at the original Bonnaroo Festival in 2002, and his debut CD, Shifting Gears, has propelled him into the hip-hop spotlight. Performing over 100 shows a year, Z-Trip makes a special Fourth of July stop this weekend at Denver's Beta Nightclub. The show will be intimate dance party, sure to raise the pulse and ignite its own fireworks.

The World Cup of Wines

The 2008 Colorado Rapids World Cup of Wines tasting event will be an evening of fine vino and appetizers from around the world. Meet the international stars of the Colorado Rapids at this debut event in which all proceeds will benefit the Rapids Community Care Foundation, a non-profit that provides educational and recreational opportunities for children and families in Colorado.

Denver Polo Classic

The 21st annual Denver Polo Classic will kick off next Friday at the Capital Grille Black Tie Ball. The black tie event will have live music, dancing and fabulous auction items. Following the elegant affair will be two days of competitive and beautiful polo. Players from all over the world will meet to compete in this legendary match. Saturday is College Invest Family Day, where family and friends are welcome to roam the polo grounds. Scrumptious local eateries including, Beau Jo's Pizza, City Grill and Ted's Montana Grill will all exhibit their food during the event. Sunday's showcase will be the championship match where the Denver Polo Classic champion will be crowned. Pull out your Sunday best, as pastel suits will be all the rage. The competition won't stop with the polo ponies; Sunday will feature a Jack Russell Terrier Race, an age-old tradition that continues today.
