Fired Up for Kids Firefighter Calendar Judging Event
Join Fired Up for Kids as it turns up the heat to select the 2010 Firefighter Calendar firefighters. All proceeds from the event and sales of the annual Colorado Firefighter Calendar are donated to The Children's Hospital Burn Center for patient care, education, equipment, and research. New to the event this year is a live auction, including a VIP Grand AM/NASCAR Race Day Package, hosted by Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey. A panel of celebrity judges, including Denver Magazine's own Auna Jornayvaz, will select firefighters who will appear in the 2010 Firefighter Calendar. Bow Wow Buddies Project RUFFway
Launched in 2007 by Heidi Flammang, founder of the successful Camp Bow Wow franchise, Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of dogs everywhere. This month, Bow Wow Buddies is celebrating the first annual Project RUFFway event to support canine cancer research at Colorado State University's Animal Cancer Center and the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation Foster Program, which will find homes for 2,000 unwanted dogs. Inspired by Bravo's hit television series Project Runway, the event will showcase a runway show featuring models paired with a local shelter dog available for adoption.

Morton's Absinthe Tasting
Referred to as "The Green Fairy" for its color and mysterious effects, absinthe has slowly made its way back into bars and restaurants since being banned in the United States from 1915 until 2007. Morton's Denver Tech Center is hosting "Absinthe, The Green Hour" to give guests a chance to experience the allure and ritual of tasting Pernod absinthe, a high-proof distilled spirit made from grande wormwood and a blend of aromatic herb extracts. Set in Morton's private boardroom, the evening will feature three Pernod absinthe cocktails and Pernod absinthe served according to traditional ritual, which involves dripping ice water very slowly over a sugar cube. Guests will also enjoy oysters Rockefeller made with Absinthe, crab-stuffed mushrooms, sliced tenderloin on crostini, and Morton's famed mini prime cheeseburgers. A Pernod absinthe expert will also guide guests through this unique tasting event.

The Kempe Foundation "Splash into the Blue" & "Thinking Blue"
The Kempe Foundation is making an effort to turn Denver blue through its "Get Your Blue On" campaign. April marks national child abuse awareness month and through a series of events, Kempe will bring the critical issue of child abuse and neglect to the forefront.
"Splash into the Blue" with the Kempe Foundation for an evening at Suite 200, Larimer Square's most sophisticated nightclub. The evening will include a complimentary cocktail from Skyy Infusions, hors d'oeuvres, live art demos, a spring fashion preview, and mini makeovers from the experts at Alchemy.

Take center court with four of Denver's professional sports teams for the 2nd Annual Mile High Dreams Gala, themed "Hollywood Nights." Rub elbows with athletes from the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Mammoth, and Colorado Rapids on the Pepsi Center's arena floor.
