La Piazza

More than 200 chalk artists will take to the streets of Larimer Square next weekend, transforming it into a museum of chalk art in the Italian style. La Piazza, a two-day pavement-painting event, might just have you thinking you are strolling through a beautiful square in Italy. Enjoy authentic Italian food, such as hand-made gelato, and taste some great vino while witnessing the unbelievable chalk art medium.

Dad’s Ultimate Day Off Essay Contest

Calling all kids! The Ritz-Carlton Denver is asking children ages 12 or under to submit a short essay nominating their dad and explaining why he deserves Dad’s Ultimate Day Off. The grand prize winner will receive the Dad’s Ultimate Day Off package, which includes

  • Father’s Day brunch for the family at Elway’s Downtown ($100 value)
  • Overnight accommodations in a one-bedroom suite with microbrew room amenity
  • Overnight valet parking
  • Choice of one gentleman’s spa treatment (executive massage, Pure Performance men’s facial, or Hops ‘n’ Honey pedicure)

George Lopez

Concerts for Kids Denver Day of Rock

Now in its fifth year, Concerts for Kids will rock Denver with a full day of free performances by local bands on Fillmore Plaza and in the Denver Theater District. Concerts for Kids has also partnered with more than 40 musical venues throughout the city, and each establishment has committed to a donation through door covers and drink specials during the day.

The Gabby Krause Foundation 5th Annual Bring Out the Bags

Gabby Krause was an inspiring six-year-old who died in September 2004 after a courageous, 19-month battle with brain cancer. Gabby sang, danced, and laughed her way through chemotherapy, finding the silly in everything. It is in her memory that the Gabby Krause Foundation was started and in her spirit that Bags of Fun began. Created by a network of caring people who want to make a difference in the lives of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, Bags of Fun are filled with educational, interactive, and silly toys that give a child a better day, a smile, and something to focus on other than his or her illness. Help raise funds for the cause at this family event with live entertainment by pop group Blessid Union of Souls.
