Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Summer Solstice
Denver’s most talented chefs will compete against each other in an appetizer challenge in support of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Judging the inaugural event for the Colorado chapter is Top Chef New York’s Melissa Harrison, Denver Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles, and Denver Magazine food columnist Stacey Brugeman. The Summer Solstice Appetizer Challenge and Cocktail Party will also include live music and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will help to fund innovative research toward curing spinal cord injury.

Kayak Divas
Ladies, if you’re looking for a new summer sport, start paddling with Outdoor Divas. Kayak Divas is a six-day women’s kayak camp designed not only to introduce you to paddling but also to give you the skills to continue with the sport. You’ll leave with the knowledge and ability to venture out with your girlfriends on your own. The camp includes intensive flat-water training, safety, river running, basic roll technique, and drills held at the Boulder Reservoir and on the river in Golden.

Denver Luxury Home Tour
For the first time in its history, the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver (HBA) is producing the 2009 Denver Luxury Home Tour. A ticketed and self-guided event, the tour features 27 new homes ranging in value from $1 million to nearly $6 million. These completely finished and available-for-sale homes are located throughout 23 neighborhoods in the Denver metro area. Visitors will get to walk through such popular styles as Tuscan; Colorado contemporary; European country estate; modern; Craftsman bungalow; and an array of prestigious French, Spanish, Mediterranean, and Tudor styles. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Home Builders Foundation (HBF), the philanthropic arm of the HBA, which helps people with such home enhancements such as wheelchair ramps, accessible entry points, modified appliances, and other amenities.

CultureHaus Annual Membership Bash
Take a trip back to the world of psychedelic rock in the late 1960s at the CultureHaus annual membership bash. CultureHaus, the social and educational support group of the Denver Art Museum for young professionals, will give an exclusive view into the organization. This year’s bash theme is “Summer of Love” in conjunction with the exhibition The Psychedelic Experience: Rock Posters from the San Francisco Bay Area 1965 - 71. Darrin Alfred, AIGA associate curator of graphic design, will give exhibition tours throughout the evening.
