Avalanche Season Opener

The Avalanche drops the puck against the San Jose Sharks in the season opener, and it will be a night to remember as the team retires the jersey of Denver’s beloved #19 Joe Sakic. In addition, this season the Avs are unveiling the Avalanche Alumni Association, into which Sakic and nine other fan favorites from franchise history will be honored this year. To commemorate these events, celebrated sports artist Stephen Holland has been chosen to paint each player's portrait, and the original work will be presented to the inductee in individual ceremonies taking place at various home games over the course of the season. Fans in attendance on the 1st will receive a Joe Sakic mini banner and a poster featuring Holland's Sakic portrait. Holland will also make a personal appearance at Fascination St. Gallery in Cherry Creek to show a selection of approximately 30 original works and a variety of limited edition prints, which he will be signing.
