Root Down

Located in an old service station in the rapidly developing Lower Highland area, Root Down has quickly become the hottest spot in town with a packed dining room and bar nearly every day of the week. A urban hipster hangout, owner Justin Cucci did all of the interior decorating, from the tables to the chairs and flooring, with Craigslist, opting to purchase the wood from a bowling lane to put together the bar. Focusing on seasonal and organic ingredients, Root Down's menu is orchestrated with the shared plate idea of dining, so take your waiter's advice and order several of the small plates and appetizers for your group of friends. Root Down's weekend brunches are a must, but make sure to get there right at 10 am in order to grab a sun-soaked spot outside. Menu highlights include steamed muscles with lemongrass cream and the veggie burger sliders with red pepper jam and don't miss Root Down's collection of inventive cocktails and mojitos.
